How To Know What To Sell As An Entrepreneur
One of the most paralyzing questions I hear from entrepreneurs is this: What should I actually be selling? If you’ve ever found yourself staring at a blank page, second-guessing your offers or trying to model what someone else is doing, you’re not alone.
Here’s the truth. Successful product creation doesn’t begin somewhere out there in the marketplace. It begins with you.
Before you look outside at trends, competitors, or pricing models, spend some time getting to know yourself and your offers so they are aligned with what you love. I often invite my clients to go all the way back to their earliest jobs and ask, What did I love? What was I really good at? When you start to see the patterns, you’ll uncover strengths and value you may have overlooked.
Your business has its own energy. Connect with it. Ask it questions. Your body and your business are constantly communicating with you. Are you listening? The nudges, the excitement, even the resistance, all of it carries information about what is truly aligned for you.
Once you’re clear on you, then it’s time to get deeply clear on your clients.
People resonate with the problem you can solve. Until they see that you understand their struggle, talking only about the outcome can actually push them away. So instead of leading with “I’ll help you make six figures,” start with: What are they worried about? What are they afraid of? What frustrates them? Where are they wasting money or time?
When you discover the real problems your clients experience, you’ll be able to articulate your message clearly and create product offers that meet them exactly where they are.
From there, the magic begins. Beside each problem, list how you can support them. You’ll likely find you have far more product opportunities than you realized. The key is not to launch everything at once, but to get clear about your offerings and put yourself in the driver’s seat.
As you up-level yourself, your business must up-level too. To have your business grow, you want to continue to be relevant with what is going on in your world and in the world of your client.
