What If It’s Not Your Strategy, But Self-Sabotage Holding You Back?

There’s a truth that most entrepreneurs don’t want to look at, but I’m going to say it anyway: You are not stuck because of your strategy. You are stuck because of what you’re avoiding. It’s a pattern I see again and again, both in my own business and with my clients who are entrepreneurs.

You’re busy, you’re doing the work, and on the surface, it looks like you’re moving forward. But if you’re honest with yourself, there’s something underneath all of that effort that you haven’t been willing to face. There is hesitation, discomfort, or even a sense of knowing that you keep brushing aside…but that’s where your growth actually is.

Avoiding that inner sense of knowing can be one of the most expensive forms of self-sabotage, because it will ensure you keep repeating with the same results.

When you avoid the truth, whether it’s a decision you don’t want to make, a standard you haven’t stepped into, or a conversation you’re not having, you stay in the same patterns. And then you wonder why nothing is changing while you’re working so hard at it all.

So many entrepreneurs choose comfort without realizing the cost of that choice. You tell yourself you want ease, you want things to feel aligned, and you want your business to flow. And while those things matter, they can also be a disguise for staying small.

If you’re consistently choosing what feels safe over what challenges you, you are essentially reinforcing your current ceiling. Growth will always require you to move beyond what feels comfortable, and there is no way around that if you truly want something different.

Then there’s overthinking, which so many people mistake for progress. I’m talking about when you’re planning, tweaking, refining, and waiting until it all feels just right. That’s not a winning strategy though, it’s a decision problem.

Clarity will not come from thinking more, it comes from taking action. The moment you move, you start to learn. You see what works, what doesn’t, and where you need to grow. When you stay in your head, you delay all of that, and your business feels it.

The real work of building a business is never just external. It’s internal. It’s how you lead yourself, how honest you’re willing to be, and how quickly you’re willing to make new choices when something isn’t working. When I look back at what actually created growth in my business, it wasn’t more effort or more hours. It was my willingness to see the truth and respond to it.

If you’re ready to start leading your business with clarity, ownership, and real momentum, I invite you to take that next step. Book a Business Audit & Strategy Call and let’s look at what’s really going on in your business, and what’s ready to change:
